Quality assurance in former open-cast mines: measurements inform site decisions

Soil compaction during the restoration of former open-cast mines requires traceable quality checks. SGL Spezialleistungen needs more than measurements stored on machines: execution, performance and deviations must be visible the same day for timely quality assurance and reporting.

The application combines machine data with planning values, compares targets with actual results and makes them available both on site and in the office.

The starting point: machine measurements analysed by hand

The construction machines already recorded measurements on their computers. The bottleneck was the subsequent checking and preparation: repetitive steps took time and required knowledge held by only a few people. A current assessment of the site depended on when this analysis was completed.

Raw data and planning values had to be combined for review.
